Michele HartMichele R. Hart

Attorney at Law

I have practiced law for 24 years and the past 18 years, I have focused exclusively on divorce and family law cases. I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer. I admired the power that I believed lawyers had to “win” rights for the clients they served. After all, I’ve always been a fighter. I have been knocked down a few times but I always found the strength and determination to get up and get back in the game.

I know what it’s like to get blindsided by life’s circumstances – to feel as if you’ve been punched in the stomach or as if the rug has been pulled from right underneath your feet.

For starters, like many of you, I’ve experienced the pain and loss that comes with ending  a long term relationship, even when abuse was involved.

These experiences, however, have made me stronger because I was able to draw on my strength and commitment to change my circumstances. I did not like the feeling of being stuck without the ability to make choices.

This is why, in 1998, I left a large law firm in New York City, where I worked exclusively with large multinational corporations, and chose to start my own law practice in my community in Morris County, New Jersey. I wanted to have the freedom to form a closer personal connection with each client and have a meaningful impact on their lives. Family law was a natural fit.

As my practice grew, however, I began to see more and more that when people choose to have the court impose legal obligations on them, they relinquish their ability to make their own choices and create results. I saw how the unpredictability of a court’s decision compounded the fear that they were already experiencing as a result of their divorce or separation.

That’s when I became committed to making sure that clients have choices to give them greater control over their own outcomes

The real value of my services comes from my having those skills that are crucial to advocate and negotiate for you, such as communication, negotiation, creative problem solving, and insight into human behavior.  I am trained as a family mediator which optimizes my ability to find unique solutions to meet your particular goals.

You can also be assured that every moment dedicated to your matter is essential to resolving it in the most cost effective way and in line with what you want to achieve.  When you come to the difficult realization that your marriage or relationship doesn’t fit with who you are, or perhaps keeps you trapped in an emotionally unhealthy environment, I am passionately dedicated to advocating for you and arming you with the resources and knowledge to design the post-divorce future that you and your children deserve.

Where other lawyers might see problems, I see opportunities for solutions.   I believe in the power of strength, commitment and determination.  I believe in you.

If you are interested in us working together, please take a look at the services I offer and contact us to set up an appointment for a consultation where we will explore all the ways that I can help you resolve your legal matter.
