One of the most challenging aspects of divorce is the division of property and debt.  While it’s all about the numbers, I understand there is a lot of emotion tied up in the facts. I’ll work with you to identify all of the assets and debts acquired during your marriage, then value and distribute them. You’ll hear this referred to as “equitable distribution.” Where we need to, we’ll call upon other professionals who are highly skilled and exceptionally trained in financial planning, accounting, and valuation to assist as part of our team.  You will find this collaboration results in the most cost effective and practical solution to address the financial matters of most concern to you.
Not sure what this means?  As an example, look at retirement assets. They are important and unique assets that are needed to secure your future standard of living.  We will make sure that retirement assets are accurately identified and appropriately evaluated.  Certain retirement assets require court orders (called either Domestic Relations Orders or Qualified Domestic Relations Orders) which tell the retirement plan administrator how benefits will be divided between the two spouses.
